Hosted the 1997 Ryder Cup, 16 Volvo Masters, WGC-American Express (1999, 2000) and LIV Golf Andalucía. The club says it is ranked no. 1 in Spain and continental Europe; RFGA lists the club as founded 1985.

Getting there from Ireland

Málaga airport (AGP) has direct flights from Dublin, Cork, Shannon, Knock and Belfast, with the regional routes varying by season. Real Club Valderrama is about 112 km by road from the airport.
